St. Bernardus Abt 12

This is a 10.0% ABV Abbey Ale, or Quad, from the St. Bernardus brewery in Watou, Belgium. 

The beer pours a ruby tinged dark brown. There is a half-inch head of tan foam. The aroma is roasted malt, dark caramel, herbal. The taste follows the aromas, but kickd everything up a notch, very rich, dark caramel and toffee, dark fruits, herbal. The beer drinks very smooth, with a very fine, soft, tingling carbonation. This is rich and elegant.
