Backpocket Murderhorn

This is a 10.2% ABV golden strong ale, Belgian inspired. It comes from the Backpocket Brewing Company of Coralville, Iowa. The name comes from the horn blown in legend to warn of Viking raids.

The beer pours amber in color. There is a relatively short head of white to off-white foam that dissipates quickly down to a single ring around the glass. The aroma is sweet, yeast esters, fruity, bananas, cloves. The taste follows the aromas, sweet, fruity, yeasty. While sweet, it never gets cloying, and the finish is as dry as sweet, with light bitterness. The beer drinks very smooth with a warming presence.
