Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPA

This 6.2% ABV India Pale Ale is from the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company of Chico, California and now Mills River, North Carolina. It uses a new process to steam distill hop oil from wet hops in the field. This oil is added to the beer to give year round fresh hop flavor.

The beer pours dark golden with a tint of orange. There is about an inch of white head. The aroma is hop forward, bright, citrusy, tropical, with mango and passion fruit, and lighter musky dankness. The taste follows the aromas, but flips them a bit, with the dankness hitting first, followed by a wave of grapefruit, tangerine, mango and passion fruit, with a quite dry and bitter finish. The flavor notes are powerful, heading up into the sinuses. The beer drinks crisp and refreshing. This beer is worth trying.
