Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Yonder Bock

This is part of the 2014 Beer Camp Across America special release from Sierra Nevada Brewing of Chico, California. They invited breweries all across America to join in a collaboration brew with them and/or join them on their Beer Camp Tour with seven stops across the USA as their bus makes its way to the site of their new brewery in Mills River, NC (there is an eighth mini-camp at El Bait Shop in Des Moines, Iowa). The release features a mixed 12 pack of twelve unique beers, two in cans.

This 7.7% ABV beer is a "tropical" maibock brewed in collaboration with Cigar City Brewing of Tampa, Florida. The tropical comes from hops like Calypso, Azacca and experimental 366.

The beer pours a gleaming amber, chestnut brown with shiny garnet. There is a relatively short head of light tan foam. The aroma is tangy, deep, rich, both sweet caramel malt, and round, full tropical fruit notes. The taste is again a foil of roasted and semi-sweet caramel toned malts with tangy, fruity tropical lushness. The mouth is smooth and round. There is a moderate tangy bitterness on the finish. The hops and malt in this beer make an elegant combination.
