Sierra Nevada Harvest Single Hop IPA - Yakima #291

This 6.5% ABV India Pale Ale is from the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company of Chico, California. It is made with a single hop, in this case the Yakima #291 hop. According to the bottle, it is the first of five beers that will be in a series.

The beer pours light copper, amber and dark golden in color. There is a tall, thick, foamy head that is off-white. The aroma is grassy, jasmine, lightly herbal, a bit of blueberry and light grape soda. The taste follows the aromas quite directly, hitting all the same notes. The finish is fairly bitter, a touch spicy, and very dry. It has a medium body and moderate carbonation, drinking fairly refreshing.  This is a pretty unique IPA and quite delicious. This was a pretty exciting beer, I can't wait for the rest in the series.
