New Belgium Coconut Curry Hefeweizen

This is an 8.0% ABV German-style hefeweizen brewed using coconut and curry spices of Cayenne Pepper, Cinnamon, Coriander, Fenugreek Seed, Ginger Root, Kaffir Lime Leaf. It is from the New Belgium Brewing Company of Fort Collins, Colorado.

The beer pours hazy, honey golden and orange in color. There is a tall head of off-white foam, ragged, yet thick, with big air pockets, like whipped sea foam or river foam. The aroma is spices over a yeasty tang. The cinnamon, coriander, ginger, kaffir lime and coconut can all be picked out. Hell, maybe the fenugreek can too, but I don't know what that smells like. The taste follows the aromas directly. This is the beer version of Thai green curry of tom yum soup. It is odd. I wish it was a 7 oz. bottle.
