Bent River Uncommon Stout

This is a 6.5% ABV coffee stout from the Bent River Brewery of Rock Island, Illinois.

The beer pours a dark mahogany black in color. There is a tall foamy head that is light brown in color, it settles down as its large bubbles burst. The aroma is fresh roasted, ground and brewed coffee over dark roasted malts. The taste follows the aromas directly. It is well carbonated and fizzes in the mouth. This is a coffee lover's dream of flavor. I had it on tap once in Iowa City, and then it was smooth and creamy, which complemented its flavors. It is overly carbonated in the bottle. This is worth trying in the bottle, but if you ever find it on tap, don't pass it up.
