Half Acre Double Daisy Cutter

This 8.0% ABV double pale ale is from the Half Acre Beer Company of Chicago, Illinois. By coincidence, I was in Chicago on the day this was released and was lucky enough to get a few bottles at their store and to drink a goblet over in their taproom.

The beer pours an orange tinted copper and amber in color. There is a big, thick, creamy head that is off-white to very light brown in color. The aroma is hop forward, big, round, fruity, with citrus and tropical fruits, pineapple, melon, passion fruit, and some piney funkiness. The taste follows the aromas, adding in some tea, the big hoppy fruit fills the mouth and goes into the nose. It is smooth and big and round in the mouth, just as it is in the aroma. The finish is moderately bitter to dry. The bitterness increases as the beer is consumed. It seems boozy, yet easy drinking. Massive, marvelous.
