Ol' Glory Amber Light

What better beer to have on the 4th of July? This can is clad in the red, white and blue; the stars and stripes, has the Pledge of Allegiance, and an image of the Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima. Ol' Glory (the website for their engergy drink and doesn't seem to mention the beer, even though the web address is on the beer can) is contract brewed by City Brewing in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Part of the profits go to the VFW Foundation Return the Favor to help veterans.

The beer pours a light amber in color, like cream soda. It has a tall off-white head that disappears rapidly. The aroma is roasted and toasted, caramel, some grassy hops and lager funk, and a light off note of cooked vegetables. The taste follows the aromas, leaving the off note behind. It is lightly sweet, with just enough hops to temper any lingering of the sweetness. It has a stinging carbonation and is easy drinking. Overall, this is a decent amber light beer.
