Half Acre Ginger Twin

This is an India-style red ale from the Half Acre Beer Company of Chicago, Illinois. It is 6.5% ABV. The beer pours mahogany with ruby tints. There is a tall half-inch of thick off-white head that leaves some layers of sticky lacing down the glass. The aroma is just on the side of hop forward over ample malt. There is pine, funky hops, tropical fruit, some passionfruit, and roasted and toasted caramel malt. The taste follows the aromas directly, adds some citrus tang over the pine, and ends with a substantial bitterness that tangles with and defeats the ample malt. The hops, bitterness, and some roasted malt linger in the aftertaste. It is medium bodied and crisply carbonated. There are big and bold flavors here, but it is easy to drink and oh so enjoyable.
