BrouCzech Dark

BrouCzech Dark is brewed by the Nova Paka Brewery in Nova Paka, Czech Republic. They have been brewing since 1872 (a relative newcomer to the Czech scene!). This beer pours a very dark brown, appearing almost black. There are ruby tints when held to the light. There is a tall head of brown foam that dissipates very quickly. The aroma is sweet and tangy, there is dark roasted malt, but it is a light part of the aroma. The taste is lightly sweet dark roasted malt, tangy, with a grassy bitterness. The roasted malt aspect again is very light. The finish is lightly dry. It is fairly light bodied and well carbonated. There really is not much flavor here for a dark lager.
