Abita Spring IPA

The Abita Brewing Company is in Abita Springs, Louisiana. This is a 6.2% ABV seasonal release that uses Amarillo and Centennial hops. The beer pours the color of copper or orange honey. There is a short head of thick off-white foam. The aroma is apricot, orange, floral, some citrus over a solid malt base. Not as hop forward as I would expect from a self described West Coast-style. The taste mirrors the aromas directly, lots of orange and malt. The finish is moderately bitter. It is medium bodied, perfectly carbonated, and drinks pretty easy. This is a nice IPA, I just wouldn't call it West Coast-style.
