New Belgium Hoppy Bock Lager

This 6.9% ABV beer is from the New Belgium Brewing Company of Fort Collins, Colorado. It is the first release in their new Hop Kitchen Series. The bottle describes it as a “German style springtime lager brewed with rye then loaded with Hallertau, Perle and Fuggle hops for a spicy, earthy aroma.” It also uses Nugget hops.

The beer pours a dark honey golden with a hint of orange. There is an inch of pure white foamy head. The aroma is aroma is grassy, herbal, musty, earthy, and floral. The taste follows the aromas over a bed of spicy rye malt. The finish is moderately bitter and quite spicy. It is medium bodied and just right for its flavor profile. This is delicious and tasty!
