Sierra Nevada Beer Camp #45 Oatmeal Stout

The Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is from Chico, California. This 9.0% ABV beer is part of their annual Best of Beer Camp series. Apparently people can submit videos and be chosen to attend beer camp, where the attendees learn about beer and choose the styles for that year's beer camp releases.

This beer pours pitch black, of a deep moonless night beyond the lights of any human habitation. There is a short head of light brown head. The aroma is sweet, creamy, dark roasted malt, with a light tang on the end. The alcohol is apparent in the aroma, it is almost like a light whiff of Bailey's and Kahlua. The taste is deep, dark roasted malt, touch of char, coffee, sweet, bitter, tangy, creamy, with a very bitter and dry finish. There is a surprisingly tingly carbonation. This beer is massive in every way without ever being overpowering (although it gets near that line). A very good stout.
