Sam Adams Third Voyage Double IPA

The beers of Samuel Adams are from the Boston Beer Company of Boston, Massachusetts. It is part of their Limited Release selection and used Cascade hops grown in various regions of the world. IPA's were created to have their extra hops allow storage over a long voyage. This beer takes its name from the third voyage of Captain James Cook, from England to New Zealand to the Pacific Northwest, and uses Cascade hops from each of those regions.

This 8.0% ABV beer pours a medium brown, dark amber, burnt orange, the color of dark tea. There is a full head of thick and creamy off-white foam. The aroma is fruity, orange and melon, with light floral. The taste is orange and melon, some strong tea with lemon, with a very bitter and dry finish.  There is an underpinning of solid malt with caramel.  The creamy heads is apparent in the mouthfeel. This is a nice take on an IPA.
