Cucapa Obscura

This 4.5% beer is brewed and bottled by the Cerveceria Baja California in Mexicali, Mexico.

The beer pours dark brown with a ruby tint, it is only translucent at the edges.  There is a small and short lasting head of light brown foam.  The aroma is slightly sweet, nutty, toffee with a slightly sour fruit note that is consistent, not clashing, with the sweeter aromas.  The taste follows the aromas, but unlike those two, it does clash.  The taste is like a sour fruit encased in sweet dark chocolate.  Some people like the mix, to me, it is like a very tart raspberry covered in dark chocolate, and it just does not appeal to my palate.
