Samuel Adams Longshot Friar Hop Ale

Another of this year's winners from the Samuel Adams Longshot homebrewer's competition where the winning recipes get brewed by Samuel Adams.  This one is from Richard Roper of Georgia and is 9.0% ABV.

The beer pours dark copper and amber in color.  The aroma is very strong yeast with a lot of banana notes.  The taste is yeast, banana, a base of sweet caramel malt.  The label talks about the powerful hops, but they are not getting through the yeast for me.  If you like a yeast bomb, you will like this beer.  If you are not into strong yeast flavors then avoid this one.
