Hevelius Kaper

This is made by the Zywiec Brewery of Poland.  It is a strong beer at 8.7% ABV.  It pours a light copper in color.  The aroma is strongly of grain, some lager funk and a touch of sweetness.  The taste is a bit of grain and some burnt caramel lost in a wash of strong alcohol and sweetness with a bitter finish.  The aroma of this beer is much better than its flavor.  As it warms and the palate adjusts, it is not too bad as a sipper, but the initial impression of this beer is terrible and I am not sure I would ever recommend it or try it again.

  1. Strange, I am not Polish and this is my favorite beer. I guess you have to be a poor Brooklyn student ex NYC chef to worship this one...though at 1.75$ a bottle with a flavor you develop to love. This is the best beer in the world, and kinda has a following in the Willyburg/Greenpoint land of BK.
